In a race full of talent, Gout left Cuba’s Reynier Mena behind in the last 20 meters, crossing the finish line with a 0.17-second lead. Britain’s Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake completed the podium in third place. This achievement places Gout sixth on the all-time world under-20 list in the 200 meters, cementing his status as an emerging figure in athletics.

Comparisons to Usain Bolt and his media impact

Gout Gout has not only attracted attention for his impressive performances, but also for the inevitable comparisons with Usain Bolt. His latest victory in Ostrava has special symbolism, as this same event was where the legendary Jamaican sprinter competed as a teenager.

“I’ve felt stronger in training over the last few months and since I arrived in Europe last Thursday. I knew Mena would be very fast in the first 100 meters, but I was confident in my ability to come back in the second half of the race, which is my strong point. I felt calm but strong coming out of the curve and was confident I would be fast enough to win. Another national record. I’m pretty happy with that, not bad for my first race in Europe,” Gout said after his victory.

A program designed for success

Gout’s success in Ostrava is part of a plan that will culminate in the world championships in September, where he has already secured his place on the Australian team. This approach seeks to maximize his performance in the most important competitions on the calendar.

GOUT GOUT AND SOUTH SUDAN

Born in South Sudan, he is the seventh of seven children to migrate to Queensland, Australia, where he grew up and became an athlete. In the Oceanic country, they are counting down to the big event of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, where Gout Gout would be 24 years old.

In addition to the aforementioned 200m sprint, in March he ran the 100m in 10.29 seconds, which was also marked in red for athletics fans all over the world.
