Spain claimed their second FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series title of 2026 in Bordeaux, defeating France 13-12 in an overtime final. Alba Prieto scored the decisive two-pointer as the Spanish team repeated their earlier success in Bucharest on the leading women’s circuit organised by the International Basketball Federation -FIBA-.
The victory leads into a weekend featuring events in three cities and two separate pathways within FIBA 3×3. The Women’s Series will continue in Bangkok, where teams can collect some of the final points towards qualification for the Shanghai Final, while the men’s Challengers in Bordeaux and Beijing will award six places across the Deqing and Zaisan World Tour events. The programme therefore connects the closing stages of the women’s circuit with two qualifying routes on the men’s professional calendar.
Spain win again
Spain entered the French stop as the sixth seed and completed the tournament with five victories. They defeated Rapid Bucharest 18-16 and Egypt 21-16 in the pool stage before overcoming top seeds Neftchi SOCAR 13-12 in the quarter-finals. Spain then beat the USA 17-14 in the semi-finals and came from behind against the hosts in the final to force overtime and secure the title.
Helena Oma was named the stop’s most valuable player after leading the tournament in player value with 37.7, alongside six blocks and 11 key assists. France finished second, followed by the USA and Rapid Bucharest. The points collected leave Spain 11th in the overall standings and still outside the eight places available at the season-ending tournament.

Bangkok looks towards Shanghai
The Women’s Series will continue on Saturday and Sunday in Bangkok with a 16-team field that does not include Spain. It will be the 22nd stop of the expanded 2026 season and will be led by Ulaanbaatar Amazons, the overall leaders and winners of two events this year. Canada, China, Germany, hosts Thailand, Mitsubishi Electric and Australia are also included in the draw.
Only Debrecen and Takasaki will remain after Bangkok before the Project Redwings Shanghai Final, scheduled for 5-6 September. The final three stops will distribute the remaining points used to determine the eight qualifiers, leaving Spain to follow their rivals’ results before the two events in which they could still participate.
Six places on the World Tour
The men’s programme follows a different system. Bordeaux hosts the 19th Challenger of the professional circuit on Friday and Saturday, with three places at the Deqing World Tour event available. Ub, Liman, Skyliners, Antwerp and Toulouse are among the leading participants, alongside Spanish teams Fuengirola and Barcelona. Ub had already qualified for Deqing through the SBA Pro Tour in Bratislava.
Beijing will stage the season’s 20th Challenger at Shougang Park on Saturday and Sunday, awarding another three places at the Zaisan World Tour event. Amsterdam RABOBANK, Raudondvaris Hoptrans, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy and Baskets Bonn lead a 16-team field that also includes Toronto, Shanghai, Hangzhou Jingwei and Crvena Zvezda.
