Angola was crowned champion of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket after defeating Mali 70-43 in the final played at the Kilamba Arena in Luanda, thus winning its twelfth continental title and becoming the most successful nation in the history of the tournament. The Angolan team ended its participation with a perfect record of six wins in six games. This is its first African gold since the 2013 championship held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Mali, which finished with a record of four wins and three losses, managed to reach second place in FIBA AfroBasket for the first time. Despite the defeat in the final, the team achieved its best performance ever in this competition.
In the third-place game, Senegal defeated Cameroon 98-72 to win its third consecutive bronze medal in the African championship. The Senegalese team finished with five wins and only two losses.
The atmosphere in Luanda was electric throughout the final phase of the tournament. For the third consecutive night, the 12,700 seats in the arena were completely sold out to watch the local team play, demonstrating what basketball means to the country.
