Preparation for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games is not only measured in venues, schedules or sporting qualifications. It is also built through the details that will shape the experience of athletes and delegations from the moment they arrive in Senegal. In that context, the ANOC-Peak Uniform Program took an important step forward during the recent Heads of Mission Seminar held in Dakar, where key logistical aspects for the distribution of equipment ahead of the Games were defined.

The meeting, which brought together more than 200 representatives from the Olympic Movement on April 9 and 10, allowed ANOC to work directly with National Olympic Committees to review quotas, sizes, operational needs and delivery mechanisms. Beyond sportswear, the program represents an opportunity to strengthen the identity of each delegation and ensure that athletes and officials have the necessary equipment for one of the most important youth events on the Olympic calendar.

A program designed to strengthen the athlete experience

A total of 48 National Olympic Committees will take part in the ANOC-Peak Uniform Program for Dakar 2026. In total, 1,000 kits will be distributed, each consisting of 30 items per person for both athletes and officials. The scale of the operation meant that the seminar in Dakar also served to review very specific details, from participant sizing to the capacity of distribution and storage spaces.

The recent confirmation of National Olympic Committee participation quotas made it possible to move forward with greater precision in the planning process. For many delegations, especially those with fewer resources, having a program of this kind means reducing costs, improving organization and providing their athletes with a professional and consistent image. It also represents a way to ensure that all participants arrive in Dakar with similar standards of presentation and equipment.

Dakar 2026 prepares to welcome thousands of young athletes

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will take place between October 31 and November 13 and will bring together 2,700 athletes and 206 delegations across 25 sports. In that context, the logistics associated with uniforms become an important part of the overall operation of the Games, especially because they involve coordinating deliveries, transport and distribution for thousands of people in a very short period of time.

The program already had its first experience earlier this year during the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, where uniforms were produced for seven National Olympic Committees. Benin and Malta, which ultimately qualified, wore the Peak uniforms throughout their Olympic participation. That previous experience allowed ANOC to arrive in Dakar with a more tested model and a better understanding of the practical needs of delegations ahead of an event of this scale.
