ANOC launches Strategic Plan 2025-2028 development with inaugural working group meeting

The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) officially launched the development of its Strategic Plan for 2025-2028 with the first meeting of the dedicated working group, held on January 24th, 2025. This strategic initiative aims to define ANOC’s priorities for the coming years and contribute to the continued advancement of the Olympic Movement.

The working group, which includes a diverse team of representatives from National Olympic Committees (NOCs) across all continents and key leaders from ANOC’s governance structure, gathered to set the foundation for this crucial project.

    Sonam Tshering – NOC Bhutan

    Dr. Srihasak Arirachakaran – NOC Thailand

    Keith Joseph – NOC St. Vincent and Grenadines

    Maria Alcalá – NOC Mexico

    Barry Hendricks – NOC South Africa

    Raul Soule – NOC Cape Verde

    Gaby Ahrens – Chair of the ANOC Athletes’ Commission

    Tricia Smith – Member of the ANOC Executive Council

    Dagmawit Berhane – Member of the ANOC Executive Council

    Jimena Saldaña – Invited Specialist

    Gunilla Lindberg – ANOC Secretary General

During this inaugural meeting, members began outlining the key areas of focus for the Strategic Plan. The discussions centered on addressing the evolving needs of NOCs, athletes, and stakeholders while reinforcing ANOC’s position within the Olympic Movement.

 Given the significant interest from over 30 NOCs in participating, ANOC has also established an NOC Consultation Group. This group, composed of candidates not selected for the core working group, will be actively consulted throughout the process, ensuring a broad range of perspectives is considered.

 ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg stated: “This first meeting marks an important milestone in shaping ANOC’s vision for the future. By harnessing the expertise and diversity of our global NOCs, we are committed to developing a strategy that strengthens our unity and promotes the values of Olympism worldwide.”

The working group will continue to meet regularly in the coming months, with the goal of presenting the finalized Strategic Plan by April 2025.
