The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) has announced the death of Andrzej Krasnicki, ANOC Executive Board member and former president of the Polish Olympic Committee, at the age of 75.
Krasnicki was a key figure in Polish sport and played a prominent role as president of the NOC between 2010 and 2023. During his tenure, he led the successful organization of the Krakow-Malopolska 2023 European Games, cementing Poland’s reputation for hosting top-level competitions. He also served on the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committee (EOC) as an ex officio member.
LEGACY IN THE OLYMPIC MOVEMENT
Since 2018, Andrzej Krasnicki represented ANOC as a member of the Executive Board, where he also served as a representative on the World Anti-Doping Agency Foundation Board. His unwavering commitment to the values of sport and Olympism earned him international recognition.
In 2023, during the 141st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Mumbai, Krasnicki was honored with the Olympic Order, one of the highest awards of the Olympic Movement, in recognition of his outstanding contribution. In the same year, the EOC awarded him its prestigious Order of Merit following the success of the European Games.
The international Olympic community deeply regrets this loss. His legacy will live on as an example of dedication and excellence in the sport.
