Here are the pairings to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027

An exciting ‘Road to Qatar’ has been laid out in greater detail for 80 national teams after the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers Draw was successfully completed today, May 13, at the stunning ALHAZM in Doha.

The draw laid out the initial pathways for all nations pursuing a precious place at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, where 32 nations will compete for the prestigious Naismith Trophy.

Taking place across six dedicated windows between November 2025 and March 2027, there will be 420 games to enjoy worldwide.

The draw was conducted by FIBA Global Ambassador and basketball legend Carmelo Anthony. He was assisted by British icon Sir Mo Farah – one of the most decorated long-distance runners in history, with four Olympic gold medals and six world titles to his name – Mutaz Essa Barshim, the four-time Olympic medalist in the high jump, and Yassin Mousa, GGC basketball legend and 3×3 world champion.

The Naismith Trophy was brought on stage by FIBA Basketball World Cup 2002 MVP, former Germany national team captain and basketball great Dirk Nowitzki, representing his country – the reigning world champion after winning the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, and the FIBA Central Board attended the event, along with Qatar Basketball Federation and LOC Director General Mohammed Al-Meghaiseeb. More than 60 representatives from National Federations around the globe were also present in Doha for this prestigious occasion.
