Brisbane has taken a decisive step on its path toward the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games by unveiling an official vision that seeks to transcend far beyond the sporting competition. Under the slogan “Believe. Belong. Become. Brisbane 2032,” the Organizing Committee reveals a proposal aimed at inspiring, uniting, and empowering an entire nation. With this message, the organizers present not only an identity for the event but also an emotional starting point that will accompany Queensland and Australia in the years ahead.

The announcement, made during a special event in Brisbane, marked the beginning of a stage in which the Games are conceived as a driver of cohesion, pride, and social transformation. The vision aims to strengthen communities, elevate their sense of belonging, and project long-lasting benefits toward 2032 and beyond. At its core, the declaration seeks to help people feel part of a shared journey, where sport acts as a bridge between individual aspirations and collective dreams.

A vision filled with symbolism

During the presentation, Andrew Liveris, president of the Brisbane 2032 Organizing Committee, emphasized the importance of the five words that shape the vision. He highlighted that each one acts as a beacon guiding the organization of the Games and defining a future era for the country. Liveris expressed his gratitude for the contribution of thousands of citizens who took part in building this identity, noting that the vision reflects who Australians are and the values they want to share with the world. His message focused on conviction and local spirit, elements that he believes will make Queensland shine when its moment comes on the global stage.

Alongside him, Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski, president of the IOC Coordination Commission, praised Brisbane’s approach, describing it as bold and representative of the region’s dynamism. For her, taking part in this process has been a privilege, especially due to the breadth and depth of the consultation carried out. Both leaders agreed that this vision not only defines a path but also honors the human warmth and community energy that characterize Australia.

Beliefs, commitments, and values shaping Brisbane 2032

The core of this vision rests on three pillars: Believe, which highlights the power of sport and the Australian spirit to push limits and awaken courage; Belong, which invites everyone to feel part of an inclusive event where every individual is celebrated; and Become, a call to seize this historic moment to strengthen Brisbane, Queensland, and Australia in a new era of opportunity. These ideas are accompanied by clear commitments, such as promoting physical activity, showcasing Australian hospitality, guaranteeing full accessibility, protecting the natural environment, fostering economic benefits, and celebrating the nation’s history and culture.

This framework of beliefs is complemented by values aimed at reinforcing unity, the constant pursuit of excellence, and respect for others. These principles will guide the Olympic and Paralympic experience and seek to resonate with every visitor, volunteer, athlete, and Australian citizen. Behind them lies a far-reaching participatory process, through which more than 6,000 people contributed ideas and perspectives in workshops, meetings, and consultations, building a collective vision that now takes shape.

What lies ahead on the road to 2032

The official launch of the vision marks a significant moment, but also the beginning of an even more intense phase in the preparation for the Games. With dates confirmed —from July 23 to August 8 for the Olympic Games and from August 24 to September 5 for the Paralympic Games— Brisbane and all of Queensland are accelerating the planning of strategies and programs that will bring this vision to life.

Moving forward, the Organizing Committee will work on initiatives that enable the Games to connect, excite, and inspire communities while showcasing the best of Australia to the world. With this vision, Brisbane 2032 sets out to build a celebration capable of transforming all who take part, creating a legacy that can be felt both in daily life and in the collective memory of the country.
