Presidential candidate Keith Joseph has issued a statement regarding the devastating passage of Hurricane Helene through various regions of the United States. The hurricane has left massive destruction in its wake across states like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North and South Carolina, affecting thousands of citizens. Joseph, who has also been in contact with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), expressed his deep empathy for the victims and emphasized the need for unity in times of crisis.

In his message, Joseph highlighted the importance of sport as a tool for social cohesion during moments of adversity. “Sport not only unites people on the field, but also in difficult moments like these, where solidarity is key,” he affirmed. According to the candidate, the bonds between sports organizations from different countries can help mobilize support and resources for the most affected areas.

He called on all sports entities to take an active role in the fight against climate change, stressing that “it is our responsibility as leaders in the sports community to contribute to the future of our planet.”

Finally, he praised the Pact for the Future as one of the most significant initiatives to address global issues, including environmental crises. “Sport has a crucial role in building healthier and more resilient societies, and we must commit to this mission,” Joseph concluded.
