The alpine town of Cogne, located in the picturesque Aosta Valley, is preparing to welcome the world’s top triathletes for the 2025 Winter Triathlon World Championship, set to take place in February. This highly anticipated event will mark the return of the competition to this historic Italian venue, which previously hosted the championship in 2014. With snow covering its stunning landscapes, Cogne reaffirms its position as an ideal destination for winter sports, solidifying Italy’s role as a leading organizer of winter triathlon events.

The announcement comes at an exciting time for winter triathlon, which has gained visibility thanks to recent editions held in Italy, such as last year’s event in Pragelato. This growth, fueled by the support of the Italian Triathlon Federation, promises a memorable edition in 2025, featuring more races and higher participation than ever before.

A WEEKEND FULL OF ACTION ON THE SNOW

Cogne, in the Aosta Valley, Italy, will host the Winter Triathlon World Championship in February 2025, marking the event’s return to the town after eleven years. The competition will begin on February 21 with the Winter Duathlon World Championship, followed by an elite winter triathlon race, which includes 8 km of running, 12 km of mountain biking, and 12 km of skiing, with multiple transitions. The event will culminate on February 23 with the Age-Group Winter Triathlon World Championship, the Para Triathlon, and the 2×2 Mixed Relay for Elites and Sub-23/Junior athletes.

This event reflects the growth of winter triathlon, supported by the Italian Triathlon Federation, which views Cogne, a traditional winter sports destination, as the ideal location to continue promoting the discipline. Additionally, it will serve as an opportunity to preview the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. World Triathlon organizers highlight the significance of Cogne as a historic venue, with more details on routes, registrations, and schedules expected in the coming weeks.
