The European Squash Federation (ESF) has officially announced the adoption of the Squash Players App interactive map as the definitive and authoritative source of squash facility data across Europe. This community-driven map includes more than 3,400 facilities in Europe and nearly 7,000 worldwide, making it the only consolidated global database of squash infrastructure.
A GLOBAL COMMUNITY-DRIVEN MAP
The interactive map, accessible at europeansquash.com/squash-finder, provides essential information about each facility, such as location, contact details, website and, where available, the number of courts. While basic information is sourced from Google Maps, squash-specific details are contributed and refined by a global community of players and enthusiasts, who ensure the data is accurate and constantly updated.
Ross Gerring, founder of Squash Players App, stressed the importance of community collaboration: “The quality of the data is only as good as the global squash community decides it is. The data may not be perfect, but perfection is a journey, not a destination. With the global squash community behind us, we can offer the best squash facility data available to the world, and at a fraction of the cost of traditional market research.”
A TOOL FOR ALL LEVELS
The map allows data searches at different scales: by individual facility, region, country, continent, and even at the national level, with country-specific maps and databases. Players as well as local and national federations are invited to use the map and its mobile application as the official squash facility registry. By registering for free, users can easily enhance local facility data, helping to accurately catalog the sport’s greatest collective asset: its facilities.
Thomas Troedsson, ESF President, underlined the importance of this initiative: “The ESF recognizes the value of having quality data about our sport, both for those who manage it, those who love it and those who want to try it for the first time. This has never been more important than now, in the lead up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. We are delighted to support and contribute to this initiative.”
A STEADILY GROWING PROJECT
Despite the wide coverage of the map, Gerring emphasized that there is still a long way to go: “There are still about 1,000 facilities in the world where we don’t know how many squash courts they have. But with the global community behind us, we will get there.”
The collaboration between the ESF and SPA reinforces the shared commitment of both organizations to provide high-quality, up-to-date information on squash facilities, making it accessible to players, administrators and new fans of the sport.
