Four new Paris 2024 athletes elected to IOC Athletes Commission

Athletes who have competed and are still competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have elected US runner Allyson Felix, German gymnast Kim Bui, Australian canoeist Jessica Fox and New Zealand tennis player Marcus Daniell to the IOC Athletes’ Commission (AC). These athletes will remain on the commission for eight years, ending at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

The new members will help ensure that the athletes’ voice remains at the heart of the Olympic Movements decisions. The IOC CA represents all athletes and supports them throughout their careers on and off the field of play.

Allyson Felix is a five-time Olympian, at Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, Kim Bui is a three-time Olympian and has competed in eight World Championships. Jessica Fox, a four-time Olympian and gold medallist at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore 2010 and Marcus Daniell, a two-time Olympian who has competed in 26 Grand Slams.

Twenty-nine athletes representing 15 sports, 29 National Olympic Committees and five continents stood for election, reflecting the strong and diverse interest of athletes in representing their peers.

IOC ATHLETES’ COMMISSION

The IOC Athletes’ Commission plays a central role within the Olympic Movement as it represents the voice of the world’s athletes within the IOC and beyond. The Commission is composed of up to 23 members, 12 of whom are directly elected through elections during the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and up to 11 members appointed to ensure a balance between genders, regions and sports.
