Meanwhile, Herning, Denmark, will host the other group of the tournament plus two quarterfinal brackets. This will be the format for the contest that is already set for May of next year.
As for the groups, Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden will compete in Stockholm. For its part, Herning will host the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway, Switzerland and the United States.
“We had the privilege of attending the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship and really felt the people’s love for ice hockey, but we also got to witness an incredibly well-executed tournament by the Czech organization, the IIHF and its partners. We are excited for next year’s tournament and now that the pool is finalized, it really feels like we are getting closer and can finally start to feel the pulse,” commented Tony Wirehn, Secretary General and CEO for Sweden of the next World Championship.
Meanwhile, Ulrik Larsen, Secretary General and CEO of the Danish venue of the tournament, said: “I am looking forward to welcoming the fans of all participating teams in Denmark and Herning and I am convinced that they will have an unforgettable experience here.” .
