The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris will display the Olympic rings starting on Friday, 50 days before the Olympic Games begin and the Olympic adventure starts for all the athletes.
A steel structure of five rings will adorn the emblematic Paris monument on the south side, overlooking the Seine River in the center of Paris. The Eiffel Tower is expected to play a prominent role in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with over 10,000 athletes participating in the opening ceremonies along the Seine River, from where the famous tower will be visible.
ArcelorMittal, the world’s leading steel company, successfully conducted tests of the Olympic rings. “With a length of 29 meters and a height of 15, the interlocking rings were raised to a height of 15 meters, testing the crane process that will be used to position them on the Eiffel Tower,” the company stated in a press release. They also noted that “the sophisticated lighting scheme, which allows the rings to appear in five colors during the day and in bright white in the evening and night, was successfully tested.”
