Legend Ono Shohei’s inspiring visit to a Kazakh judo club

Japanese judoka Shohei Ono participated in two Olympic Games -in the -73 kg category-, winning three medals: gold in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and gold and silver in Tokyo 2020. At the 2018 Asian Games she won a gold medal in the same category. She won three gold medals at the World Judo Championships between 2013 and 2019, and a silver medal at the 2012 Asian Judo Championships. He is undoubtedly one of the historical references of this discipline so loved and practiced all over the world.

Last weekend, this legend attended the Jenys Judo Club in Karaganda (Kazakhstan) to the enthusiasm of the attendees, who were able to see him practicing his best judo live. A luxury for the senses and an unforgettable day for this club.

Among the illustrious public of the Jenys Judo Club of Karaganda was Vlad Marinescu, general director of the International Judo Federation (IJF) who, in addition to having his picture taken with the Japanese judoka, declared that it had been “an inspiring day with an incredible judo talent”. Shohei, in addition to being a reference for the medals won, is an exemplary athlete and a mirror in which the new generations of world judo can be reflected.
