The Kremlin reported Tuesday on an alleged agreement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to organize ice hockey matches between US and Russian players. According to the statement, the matches would include players from the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Continental Hockey League (KHL). However, the White House has not confirmed this information.
PROPOSAL WITHOUT OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION
“Donald Trump supported Vladimir Putin’s idea of organizing field hockey matches in the United States and Russia between Russian and American players playing in the NHL and KHL,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
Despite these statements, the White House did not mention the field hockey issue in the official statement issued after the call between the two leaders. In addition, no questions related to the sport were answered. For its part, the NHL stated that it is not yet ready to comment on the matter.
