The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games will feature a new partnership connecting sports and commercial brands: Allianz will lend its name to the Allianz Beach Arena, a venue located in Long Beach, California, that will host the Olympic beach volleyball competitions and Paralympic blind football events. The announcement marks a milestone for LA28, as it will be the first time an Olympic competition venue bears the name of this company.
The temporary stadium will have a capacity of 11,800 spectators and is expected to welcome more than 460,000 people across both events. The initiative is also part of a program that will allow commercial sponsors to name competition venues, creating new opportunities for brands participating in the Games. For Allianz, the agreement connects its presence in the Olympic and Paralympic movement with its experience sponsoring sports venues around the world.
Allianz Beach Arena will be one of LA28’s venues
Located along the Long Beach waterfront, the Allianz Beach Arena will host beach volleyball competitions during the Olympic Games and blind football events during the 2028 Paralympic Games. Its oceanfront location will continue the tradition of staging beach volleyball in iconic settings, following memorable competitions at Horse Guards Parade during London 2012, Copacabana Beach at Rio 2016, and beneath the Eiffel Tower at Paris 2024. The expectation of welcoming hundreds of thousands of fans highlights the importance of this discipline within the sporting program.
The venue will also become the eighth stadium in Allianz’s international network, which includes facilities such as the Allianz Arena in Munich, Allianz Stadium in Sydney, and Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota. The main distinction is that it will be the first temporary venue to join this network, expanding the company’s presence in the sports sector. According to Eike Bürgel, Allianz’s global head of the Olympic and Paralympic program, the partnership will bring together the company’s stadium network and its collaboration with the Olympic and Paralympic movement under one name for the first time.
Los Angeles 2028 creates new opportunities for sponsors
The Allianz Beach Arena naming agreement is part of LA28’s venue naming rights program, developed in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The initiative will allow commercial sponsors to name venues hosting competitions, creating new opportunities for brands to participate in the Games. The model also aims to strengthen relationships between organizers, commercial partners and fans by increasing companies’ visibility across sporting venues.
Allianz has been a Worldwide Olympic Partner since 2021, serving as the exclusive insurance partner through 2032, and has supported the International Paralympic Committee since 2006. As part of its involvement in Los Angeles 2028, the company also unveiled a customized version of the LA28 emblem, featuring an interpretation of the Games’ distinctive letter “A” inspired by two of its sports venues. Through this partnership, Allianz aims to continue supporting the Olympic and Paralympic ecosystem, including organizing committees, national federations, teams and athletes, while promoting inclusion and connection through sport.
