Dani Olmo, FC Barcelona‘s main signing this season and a major stalwart of the Spain side that won the European Championship, has been able to play against Rayo Vallecano (match numer three of the season) after the Catalan side were able to meet all the bureaucratic requirements needed to register him in LaLiga. LaLiga has already given the go-ahead for Dani Olmo’s registration. Barça have managed to register their main new signing after the latest market moves made by the club chaired by Joan Laporta.
It has been Christensen‘s injury that has made it possible for Joan Laporta to make another financial gamble so that Dani Olmo can play. Barça’s doctors first estimated the Dane’s injury at two months, but have now extended it to four. That means Christensen suffers a long-term injury, which allows another player to be registered in his place. This is how Olmo has been registered. In the meantime, if Christensen will recover before the four months are up, both players could play, until the transfer window opens again in winter.

PROCESS FOR REGISTERING A PLAYER IN LALIGA
First of all, the signed contract of the player must be presented with the concrete salary, the duration of the contract, dates of payment of wages. In addition, in case of payment of the clause, deposit of the corresponding amounts, transfer contract or assignment of rights. It must also be proven that there are no outstanding amounts to be paid to another club.
In the case of foreign players, the documentation is even more complicated: the international transfer, a certified photocopy of the passport, documentation of the transfer of federative rights over the player, a document from the signing club, certifying that the amount of the contract does not exceed 20% of the club’s budget, a document of acceptance of the FIFA rules on the transfer of players to the national team of their country and a request for a work and residence permit in Spain must be submitted.
THE SALARY LIMIT, THE KEY TO REGISTRATION
According to LaLiga’s regulations, clubs must be authorised by the Economic Control Department, which must confirm that they have not exceeded the eligible squad expenditure in accordance with LaLiga’s economic control rules. All clubs are obliged to know the limit before signing new contracts. In other words, no player licences will be processed for clubs or SADs that, prior to the signing of the player’s employment contract or as a result of it, exceed the financial limit of the squad.
