Madrid will be the capital of the fifth 2024 European Kata Tournament on 7 September. The Francisco Valcárcel Stadium in the Spanish capital will serve as a platform for athletes preparing for the 2024 World Judo Kata Championships in Las Vegas in November.

The senior judokas will compete in the Nage-no-Kata, Katame-no-Kata, Ju-no-Kata, Kime-no-Kata and Kodokan-Goshin-Jutsu categories. Junior judokas will compete in Nage-no-Kata (5 sets – all kata), Katame-no-Kata (3 sets – all kata) and Ju-no-Kata (2 first sets). Cadets will compete in only one category: Nage-no-Kata (3 sets – Te Waza, Koshi Waza and Ashi Waza).

The current version of the IJF Criteria for Kata Judging 2024 will be used to judge the Kata with reference also to the official edition of the Kodokan textbook. The first tournaments were held in Belgium, Italy, France, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and after Madrid, another one will be held in Germany.
