The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the appointment of Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski as the new Chair of the Coordination Commission for the Olympic Games in Brisbane 2032. The decision was made by IOC President Thomas Bach, following the resignation of Kirsty Coventry, who stepped down after being elected president of the Olympic body. Jaworski, a current member of the IOC Executive Board, will take on this new role with the aim of overseeing the preparation of the event, scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8, 2032 in Australia.
Jaworski, a former Filipino equestrian athlete with a distinguished international career, has a close connection with Australia, where she trained for over two decades. Her sports and Olympic governance experience make her a key figure in ensuring the comprehensive development of the Games. From May 20 to 22, she will chair the upcoming meeting of the Commission in Brisbane, where Thomas Bach and incoming Chair Coventry will also be present, in a pivotal gathering to further refine the event preparations.
Experience and Olympic vision in service of Brisbane 2032

She currently chairs the Olympic Education Commission and contributes to others focused on sustainability, legacy, esports, and communication. Her appointment ensures the continuation of a work approach centered on sustainability, inclusion, and long-term legacy for host communities.
