Montenegro will host the next World Youth Boxing Championship

It’s official now! Budva will host the 2024 World Youth Boxing Championship, this was confirmed by the International Boxing Association (IBA) after the Board of Directors meeting on June 21. The IBA returns to Montenegro after Budva demonstrated its ability to host European continental competitions.

The Montenegrin city, located on the shore of the Adriatic Sea, had already hosted the European Women’s, Under-22 and Youth Championships, so it left good impressions in this Olympic sport.

This edition of the World Youth Boxing Championship will be the fifth to bring together the best young boxers in the world. There will be 600 participants who will gather in the country located in southeastern Europe.

The organization of the sporting event is already underway. This was commented by Alexander Klemenko, President of the Boxing Association of Montenegro: “It is a great honor for us to be the organizers of the IBA World Youth Boxing Championships this year. Entrusting our federation with the high expectations of the IBA, the Boxing Association of Montenegro will certainly work hard to create a wonderful and unforgettable sports celebration atmosphere, along with the most comfortable conditions for all athletes and international delegations.”

Who also had words for the conduct of the event was the president of the IBA, Umar Kremlev: “The names we heard at the Budva event will soon be known in the world of elite boxing, since we know some success stories based on the La Nucia 2022 and Kielce 2021 championships. I am looking forward to the highest level event in Montenegro.”

The organizer of the event will be the Montenegrin Boxing Association and they anticipate great competition. “All participants in the contest will be able to shine in a fair and equitable competition, based on the principles of absolute equality and impartiality,” explained Klemenko. “We have already started preparations for this extraordinary sporting event and we will strive to pleasantly surprise all our guests who come to our wonderful city of Budva,” the manager concluded about the tournament that will be held between October 20 and November 6. of 2024.
