The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) successfully held the third edition of the Kid Games over the weekend, bringing together more than 2,000 children and their families for an event marked by fun, physical activity, and the Olympic spirit. The event, which took place to coincide with Olympic Day, offered a unique experience for the little ones, with activities designed to encourage teamwork and a passion for sport from an early age.
The opening ceremony was attended by more than 600 children aged between 3 and 6, who enjoyed a festive and colorful atmosphere with their families. CTOC President LIN Hong-Dow presided over the event, accompanied by sports authorities and prominent figures in national sport, such as Olympic swimmer Huang Mei-Chien.
Sports activities
This year’s edition marked a leap in quality with the addition of “12+1” sports activities and competitions. The five main sports included badminton, taekwondo, mini soccer, gymnastics, and athletics, while seven themed areas allowed children to discover disciplines such as weightlifting, kendo, martial arts, baseball, archery, boxing, and golf.
The venue also offered interactive spaces such as a virtual reality cycling zone, a fencing area adapted for children, and an Olympic mural where participants could express their creativity through art.
Elite athletes and Olympic values
The presence of renowned athletes added value to the day. Among them, badminton players Lin Jun-Yi and Chiu Hsiang-Chieh, Olympic taekwondo medalist Lo Chia-Ling, and professional basketball player Wu Yong-Sheng shared moments with the children, encouraging them to enjoy sports and to improve themselves every day.
During the ceremony, Huang Mei-Chien, in her capacity as IOC ambassador for the prevention of manipulation in competitions, conveyed to attendees the importance of integrity and fair play in sport.
