The Oman Olympic Committee held a successful three-day physiotherapy course at the Oman Olympic Academy. The training, organized by the Sports Medicine Committee, was aimed at physiotherapists from sports federations and committees, in addition to health professionals from hospitals. It is an example of how to maximize your specialists and leverage knowledge to try to evolve in your Olympic career.
The course was supervised by Dr. Nasreen Hamada, a physiotherapy specialist from Egypt, who offered a combination of theory and practice to address key topics such as sports injury management, first aid, diagnosis and treatment. The program included a detailed review of common injuries and their methods of intervention, with practical exercises from day one.
FOCUS ON JOINT INJURIES
On the second day, participants explored specific shoulder, knee and ankle injuries in depth, with practical sessions designed to apply diagnostic and treatment techniques. The course ended with a day dedicated to intensive training and a closing ceremony where certificates were awarded to attendees.
Dr. Hamada emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stressing that “intensive practical training provides insight into the latest therapeutic techniques for managing sports injuries.” She also pointed out the crucial role of physiotherapy in improving athletes’ performance and preventing future injuries.
