The International Paralympic Committee confirmed the suspension of para athlete Amir Khosravani for three years. The Iranian was suspended for doping, when an adverse analytical result confirmed the presence of a prohibited substance after the sample taken in October 2023. The champion of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in the T12 long jump category will not be able revalidate his medal in Paris.

As confirmed by the governing body of world Paralympics, a long-term metabolite of both oxymetholone and metasterone was found, which is considered by the World Anti-Doping Agency as an anabolic androgenic steroid.

Khosravani had been provisionally suspended since January 16, 2024, while his case was investigated. After the Iranian accepted the consequences established in the Anti-Doping Code, it was determined that “he will not be eligible to compete or for other sporting activities (other than authorized anti-doping education or rehabilitation programs) for three years, starting January 16 from 2024 until January 15, 2027,” reported the International Paralympic Committee.

The sanctioned Iranian athlete won the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in the T12 category, that is, athletes with low vision. A career that was being successful, especially winning medals at the Asian Para Games, where she won bronze in Jakarta 2018 and silver in Hangzhou 2022.
