Paraguay has consolidated its position as a growing global sports destination after signing the contract to host the World Skate Games 2026. The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, and high-level representatives of international sport.
The ceremony was attended by the President of World Skate, Sabatino Aracu; the Sports Director, Francesco Zangarini; and the Chief of Cabinet, Facundo Cernadas, who confirmed that Paraguay will host the next edition of the World Skate Games. President Peña was joined by Camilo Pérez López Moreira, member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP); César Ramírez, Minister of Sports of Paraguay; and Víctor Pecci, former Minister of Sports and current General Director of the Paraguayan Committee for the Organization of Mega Sports Events.
EVENT WITH GLOBAL IMPACT
The previous edition of the World Skate Games, held in Rome in 2024, brought together more than 10,000 athletes from 90 countries in 12 disciplines. This event generated an economic impact of 439 million euros and attracted 40,000 tourists, highlighting the potential of the World Skate Games to raise the international profile of its host cities.
Paraguay, with this designation, reaffirms its commitment to the development of the sport and its ability to organize world-class events. This achievement adds to other recent milestones, such as the organization of the 2022 South American Games and the confirmation of a 2030 World Cup match in its territory.
PARAGUAY, A GROWING SPORTS DESTINATION
In addition to the World Skate Games, Paraguay will host the Junior Pan American Games and a round of the FIA World Rally Championship this year. It has also submitted its bid for the 2030 Youth Olympic Games, reinforcing its position as a key player on the international sports scene.
Camilo Pérez López Moreira, President of the COP, highlighted, “With the strong support of President Peña, we are delighted that Paraguay will host another major sporting event with the World Skate Games 2026. This event will have a very positive economic impact for Paraguay, and we are confident that athletes from around the world will enjoy an unforgettable experience at the World Skate Games.”
