This Monday, elections were held for the Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federations (ARISF), which brings together more than 40 international federations that are recognised by the International Olympic Committee but are not part of the Olympic programme. Italian official Raffaele Chiulli was re-elected as ARISF president with 19 votes, defeating Anna Arzanova, who received 16. Chiulli, who also serves as president of the Union Internationale Motonautique, will continue leading the organisation.
At the same assembly, secretary general Riccardo Fraccari was re-elected unopposed, while vice president John Liljelund also retained his position, confirming the continuity of the ARISF leadership team. The close presidential vote underlined the organisation’s growing weight as a platform for emerging sports seeking greater visibility within the Olympic Movement.
The election session was attended by IOC president Kirsty Coventry, who highlighted ARISF’s role within the Olympic ecosystem and the value of its work in promoting sporting diversity at an international level.
