This collaboration aims to boost the popularity of 3×3 basketball in the local community and attract top teams and players from around the world. The announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2025, highlighting the growth of this basketball format and Singapore’s infrastructure to host world-class events.
3×3 basketball fans will be able to enjoy the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026, the FIBA 3×3 World Qualifier 2026, and the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2027. The events will take place at the Singapore Sports Hub, which will become a benchmark for 3×3 basketball in the region. With more than 24 teams participating in the 2026 qualifier and 40 teams in the 2027 World Cup, Singapore is set to be the center of international basketball attention in the coming years.
SINGAPORE’S COMMITMENT TO SPORT
The collaboration between FIBA and SportSG reflects the growing interest in basketball in Singapore. With major events such as the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup and the World Qualifier, Singapore will establish itself as a regional hub for the sport. The country’s infrastructure, which includes over 1,100 basketball courts, provides a solid foundation to promote local participation. Additionally, this agreement reaffirms Singapore’s ability to host high-level sporting events and promote basketball as one of the most popular sports in the country.
SportSG, which has been instrumental in the development of basketball in Singapore, has also created a robust sports ecosystem that involves players of all ages. With the growing popularity of 3×3 basketball, this commitment will continue to benefit local players, including those on the national team TeamSG. These events, alongside the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2025 and other international competitions, will ensure that Singapore remains a global basketball hub and a key destination for future talents.
