The launch of the “Step It Up” campaign marks a significant milestone on the road to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, set to take place in Qatar. In an event held in Mies, Switzerland, FIBA global ambassador Carmelo Anthony unveiled the official visual identity of the tournament, designed to unite players, teams, and fans in an effort to elevate the legacy and impact of this prestigious competition. This will be the first Basketball World Cup hosted in the Middle East and North Africa region, adding historical significance to the event.

The tournament’s logo is inspired by the Bisht, a traditional Qatari garment symbolizing prestige and distinction. This design not only represents Qatar’s rich culture but also reflects the values of achievement and pride associated with basketball. As the competition progresses, the logo will change colors to represent different tournament stages—from the qualifiers to the final phase. The “Step It Up” campaign is more than just a slogan; it is a call to action aimed at mobilizing the global basketball community toward a shared goal.

The atmosphere in Doha is expected to be electrifying, with Carmelo Anthony emphasizing that participating in this tournament is an unparalleled experience for any player. Additionally, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis highlighted that this edition of the tournament will inspire more fans and mark a major milestone in the global growth of basketball.
