The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has taken a new step towards its commitment to increasing female representation in leadership roles within the world of skiing and snowboarding. In November, twenty representatives from National Ski Associations (NSA) will have the opportunity to participate in the Women Lead Sports Master Program, a high-level training course delivered virtually by corporate leadership coach Gabriela Mueller Mendoza.

National Ski Associations have until September 22 to nominate their candidates, who may be administrative staff, coaches, or athletes, whether active or retired. The final list of participants will be announced on October 1. Additionally, up to 20% of the spots will be available for men interested in becoming allies, ambassadors, or advocates of female leadership in sports.

“The most important thing is to provide the best tools so that women in the FIS community can become great leaders or maintain their leadership,” said Sarah Fussek, FIS Integrity Director, responsible for this collaboration with the program and for the federation’s diversity, equality, and inclusion initiatives. Fussek also emphasized the value of a program focused on the unique challenges faced by women in sports leadership.

The program, which will take place over four virtual sessions during November 2024, is specifically designed to address the challenges of female leadership in sports. The FIS intends to offer more spots for the 2025 participant group, continuing its commitment to fostering greater equity in its ecosystem.

With initiatives like this, the FIS demonstrates its dedication to promoting a more diverse and equitable environment, ensuring that both women and men can contribute significantly to the future of skiing and snowboarding on a global scale.
