The FIBA Foundation has published its 2024 Impact Report, highlighting the achievements of its Basketball For Good program, which has transformed the lives of more than 276,000 young people in 122 countries. This report reaffirms the Foundation’s commitment to using basketball as a tool to bring about positive change in communities around the world.

The year 2024 marked a new record for the FIBA Foundation, with support for 145 community projects and the organization of more than 680 Basketball For Good events and festivals in collaboration with global partners and local communities. These numbers would not have been possible without the support of the 255 Change-Makers trained by the FIBA Foundation.

Community Projects

The Propose a Project platform, one of the FIBA Foundation’s most prominent initiatives, achieved unprecedented success in 2024. A total of 58 projects received support in the form of grants, equipment, or mentoring, impacting 64,000 people in 50 countries. This program has proven to be a key pillar in promoting community development through basketball.

In addition, the FIBA Foundation was supported by its global partners, PEAK and Molten, who donated 8,000 pieces of equipment and 6,500 basketballs, respectively. These contributions were essential to the success of the projects and events organized during the year.

In 2024, the FIBA Foundation Youth Leadership Program empowered 31 new youth leaders, bringing the total to 155 since its inception in 2018. These young leaders implemented 45 Basketball For Good projects in their countries, demonstrating the transformative impact of the program on their communities. In addition, in collaboration with FIBA Regional Offices and National Federations, 86 Mini Basketball educators were trained.

Women and the orange ball

The FIBA Foundation also organized various community impact projects in collaboration with partners such as Olympic Solidarity and National Federations. Among them, the Her World Her Rules program stands out, promoting the participation of girls and women in basketball, and the Basketball For Good festivals, which foster inclusion and social development.

In Seychelles, the Hoops for Health project completed its third and final year with a significant achievement: the renovation of a community court, marking the first time the FIBA Foundation has carried out an initiative of this kind. This project is an example of the Foundation’s commitment to sustainability and long-term development.
