This Thursday, the International Skating Union (ISU) will hold its first Extraordinary Congress in its more than 130-year history. This historic event will focus on voting on a comprehensive reform of the ISU Constitution, marking a key moment for the future of the organization and skating sports.
The proposed reform seeks to align ISU governance with the objectives set out in Vision 2030, its strategic roadmap for the modernization and continued growth of the organization.
Modernization of skating
The reform of the ISU Constitution represents the most significant change since the organization was founded in 1892. This process aims to update governance structures to adapt to the current needs of figure skating and speed skating, as well as the challenges of modern sport.
The Extraordinary Congress will also serve as a platform to discuss how these reforms can strengthen transparency, inclusion, and sustainability within the organization and its events.
