The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced on Monday the launch of the FIBA 3×3 Team Performance Support Program, a new initiative designed to recognize the achievements of the top-performing 3×3 basketball teams on the FIBA 3×3 Pro Tour circuit.

This program marks a new milestone in the growth of the FIBA 3×3 professional circuit. The 14th edition of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour in 2025 will bring the best teams in the world to compete in 15 cities globally, continuing the success of a record-breaking 2024 in digital engagement and fan growth.

Financial support for top teams

The Team Performance Support Program will provide financial support to eligible teams based on their consistent participation in the professional circuit and compliance with the program’s guidelines. This support aims to help teams invest in key areas such as continuity, logistics, athlete development, and community outreach activities.

Eligibility is reserved for teams ranked in the top five at the end-of-season rankings. According to the latest standings, this includes standout teams such as Ub (Serbia), Toulouse (France), Miami (USA), Amsterdam (Netherlands), and Vienna (Austria).

Promotional activities and fan engagement

Participating teams will have the opportunity to take part in a series of promotional and community engagement activities throughout the season. These activities include training clinics, media appearances, and fan-focused events. These initiatives not only increase the visibility of the teams but also allow players to connect more meaningfully with their supporters and inspire local communities.

Álex Sánchez, Managing Director of FIBA 3×3, emphasized the importance of the program: “This program is a key step in our strategic development of the FIBA 3×3 professional circuit. By supporting high-performing teams with additional resources, we are strengthening the overall competitiveness of the circuit and helping to lay the foundation for future Olympic success. This goes beyond financial support. It’s about giving the best teams the tools and recognition they deserve as ambassadors of the game and leaders in the global 3×3 basketball movement.”

A strategic vision for the future of 3×3 basketball

With 3×3 basketball experiencing rapid global growth and an expanded format of 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, this program reinforces FIBA’s long-term strategic vision. The goal is to build a sustainable and professional ecosystem where elite players can perform at the highest level, inspire new generations, and elevate the sport on the global stage.
