World Rugby and Emirates have formalized an agreement that redefines the boundaries of global sports sponsorship. The announcement, described as the largest and most extensive agreement in the governing body’s history, projects a shared vision that extends beyond upcoming tournaments and opens a horizon where rugby continues to establish itself as a truly universal sport. This renewal, which will extend at least until 2035, not only expands a long-standing relationship but also reaffirms the role both organizations play in growing the game in strategically and culturally diverse markets.

In this context, Emirates remains Platinum Partner and Principal Partner of the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cups, a commitment that accompanies rugby’s exponential growth worldwide. The decision confirms the sport’s commercial strength and the confidence it inspires for the future, especially as the discipline gains ground in regions such as the United States. The continuity of this relationship underscores a joint effort to bring rugby to new audiences, forging connections that strengthen its global identity.

A Commitment that Projects Rugby’s Future

The expanded agreement covers all Rugby World Cups until 2035, including the editions in Australia in 2027 and 2029, as well as the tournaments in 2031 and 2033 in the United States. The partnership also incorporates all global qualifying events, allowing Emirates to be present at every stage of the competitive process and professional development of the sport. Additionally, the iconic “Fly Better” brand will continue to accompany match officials and international fixtures, reinforcing its presence throughout the rugby ecosystem.

The central role of women’s rugby within this expansion marks an additional milestone in the sport’s evolution. Following the momentum generated by the Rugby World Cup 2025, Emirates becomes Principal Partner of the Women’s Tournament, directly supporting its accelerated growth and commercial value. This joint commitment reflects the determination to support the athletes leading rugby’s transformation and to ensure the sport’s impact continues to expand globally.

Voices Driving a Shared Vision

From World Rugby, statements by Alan Gilpin and Michel Poussau highlight the magnitude of the agreement and the legacy built since 2007, emphasizing confidence in rugby’s global potential and the key role of Emirates in its international consolidation. Both executives underscore the power of the sport to unite and inspire, highlighting growing confidence in the Rugby World Cups as platforms of worldwide reach.

For his part, Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, reaffirms the deep connection between rugby’s values and the airline’s principles: integrity, teamwork, and the ability to build bridges between people and cultures. His vision projects the desire to support the sport’s growth by transporting fans worldwide and strengthening a legacy that began in 1987 with the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens. Through this expansion, the company renews its commitment to open new opportunities and continue inspiring future generations.
