The Olympic Academy of Oman held a course entitled “Contemporary Trends in Sports Management” at the facilities of the Olympic Committee of Oman from May 26 to 28. This event is part of the Academy’s ongoing efforts to develop and empower national sports cadres, improving institutional performance in line with Oman’s Sports Strategy and Oman Vision 2040.

The main objective of the three-day course was to strengthen the capacities of national sports institutions and encourage the adoption of emerging trends in sports management. These initiatives are designed to align with the strategic objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to modernize and professionalize the sports sector in the country.

Dr. Ishaq Ahmed Al-Balushi, director of the Olympic Academy of Oman, highlighted the importance of training for sports institutions. During his speech, he emphasized how emerging trends can be leveraged to improve the performance and sustainability of sports organizations.

Participation of sports federations and inclusive approach

A total of 30 participants from various sports federations, including the Oman Deaf Sports Committee, attended the course. This diversity of participants reflects the Oman Olympic Academy’s commitment to inclusion and the comprehensive development of all sectors of national sport.

The course was taught by Dr. Abdul Rahim Muslim Al-Darwishi, associate professor of Sports Management and Sports Policy at the Faculty of Education at Sultan Qaboos University. His academic and professional experience brought a practical and up-to-date approach to the topics covered during the sessions.

The course sessions addressed a variety of key topics, including the latest trends in sports management, leadership strategies, and effective sports policies. These areas are fundamental to improving the capacity of sports federations and ensuring their alignment with international standards.
