The Norwegian Ski Federation has suspended two members of its team following a cheating scandal that shook the Ski Jumping World Championships in Trondheim. Magnus Brevig, the team’s coach, and Adrian Livelten, the equipment manager, are under investigation for deliberately modifying the suits of two Norwegian athletes to enhance their performance. Ski jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang were disqualified after it was discovered that their suits violated regulations by incorporating additional seams designed to increase lift in the air.

The federation’s CEO, Jan-Erik Aalbu, publicly admitted that this was a deliberate attempt to deceive the system, calling it “unacceptable.” The incident has caused outrage in Norway, a country with a proud tradition in winter sports. The International Ski and Snowboard Federation has also launched its own investigation to clarify the facts.

A SCANDAL SHAKING THE SKIIN WORLD

The case has triggered an ethical crisis in Norwegian ski jumping, with Brevig acknowledging his responsibility and regretting not having stopped the decision. According to him, this was the first time this technique had been used, comparing it to adjusting a sail to improve performance in sailing. The situation has brought the integrity of the sport and the strict regulations on equipment into the spotlight.

With investigations still ongoing and the indefinite suspension of those involved, this scandal raises serious questions about competitive practices and the reputation of Norwegian ski jumping. Meanwhile, the sports community awaits decisive measures to ensure transparency and compliance with the rules in future competitions.
