The Sports and Environment Committee, under the China Taipei Olympic Committee, is promoting environmental sustainability through awareness-raising activities targeting the younger generation. During the National High School Games (April 19-24) and the National Inter-University Games (April 27-May 2, 2025) in Tainan, promotional booths were set up to raise awareness of climate change and sustainable development among young participants. The main objective of these initiatives is to encourage daily energy saving and carbon reduction habits among athletes and students, thus promoting sustainability in their communities.

One of the highlights of these activities was the promotional booth with a quiz contest, which attracted numerous young athletes and coaches. This space not only served to transfer knowledge, but also to establish concepts and cultivate sustainable habits, essential for the long-term promotion of net-zero carbon emissions.

Incorporation of practical measures

During the events, practical environmental sustainability measures were promoted, such as the use of recyclable or biodegradable utensils, the installation of recycling stations, the promotion of public transportation and the reduction of energy consumption. These actions allow participants to understand more concretely the meaning of sustainable development.

The Sports and Environment Committee believes that these promotional activities allow participants to practice sustainable environmental protection through sport. By integrating energy saving and carbon reduction measures into sporting events, a positive force is created that can be extended to the wider community.
