USA Volleyball has announced the appointment of John Speraw as its new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a position he will assume on October 1, 2024. With an extensive career in volleyball, Speraw will become the organization’s eighth CEO, bringing a wealth of experience as both a coach and leader in the sport.
Speraw has been the head coach of the U.S. men’s volleyball team since 2013 and has been part of the federation’s management team for nearly two decades. Additionally, since 2012, he has led the UCLA men’s volleyball team, guiding them to NCAA Division I-II national championships in 2023 and 2024. Before his tenure at UCLA, he coached the UC Irvine team, winning three national championships in six years.

As a former player, Speraw also boasts an impressive track record. He was part of the UCLA team as a middle blocker from 1992 to 1995, winning two national championships as a player. He graduated from UCLA in 1995 with a degree in microbiology and molecular genetics.
Regarding his new role, Speraw expressed: “My journey with USA Volleyball began in 1997 as an assistant coach for the World University Games team… Reflecting on the teams, players, and experiences over the years, I feel immensely grateful. Being entrusted to now lead USA Volleyball is a profound honor and a great responsibility.” He added, “I am ready to lead. I am ready to serve”.
