The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced that Singapore will host major and historic events for the orange world in 2024. The Asian country will host the historic edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup and also the ceremony where the already announced 2024 class will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Between September 12 and 15, the 34th edition of the Intercontinental Cup will be held at the Singapore Sports Hub, which this year will feature the largest number of clubs, and therefore representation, in its history. Pedro de Luanda, from Angola, champion of the Basketball Africa League; Quimsa from Argentina, winner of the Americas Champions League; Unicaja Málaga from Spain, winners of the Basketball Champions League Europe; NBA G League United, representatives of the United States G League; Al Riyadi of Lebanon, champion of Asia’s first Basketball Champions League; plus Tasmania JackJumpers as Oceania’s first representatives in the tournament, will bring to life the 2024 edition of the international competition.
“We are excited to welcome the continental champions to Singapore for the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2024. As a world-class destination for live sporting action, Singapore Sports Hub has hosted numerous international sporting events, including two editions of the FIBA Asia Cup 3×3 and the inaugural FIBA Intercontinental Cup Asia in 2023,” said Yazed Osman, Group Head, Events and Venue Creation, Kallang Alive Sport Management.
“The FIBA Intercontinental Cup is a unique global experience in club basketball, but the 34th edition will mark a notable milestone in basketball history,” added Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Secretary General.
On the other hand, on September 14 the ceremony will be held where the 2024 generation of the Basketball Hall of Fame will be inducted, with figures such as Reggie Miller among those honored.
