Hungary, Lithuania and the Philippines in the women’s competition, along with New Zealand, Czechia and Brazil in the men’s draw, secured the final six spots for the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 after the closing day of the qualifying tournament held at The Kallang in Singapore. The event therefore completed the final lineup of national teams that will compete in Warsaw, host of the next senior World Cup in the discipline.

The event will take place from June 1 to 7, 2026 and will feature 40 national teams, split between 20 men’s teams and 20 women’s teams. With those final tickets now awarded, the International Basketball Federation -FIBA- has completed the field for its flagship national-team competition in 3×3, a tournament that will also carry added organisational significance as it will be held in Poland for the first time.

Six teams sealed the final World Cup spots in Singapore

In the women’s competition, Hungary produced one of the strongest campaigns of the qualifying tournament and confirmed its place in Warsaw alongside Lithuania and the Philippines. The event also produced one of its most striking moments when Singapore defeated Brazil in the opening phase, a result that gave the host nation competitive visibility. After that game, Jermaine Lim Jia Ying said: “We trusted in our team throughout. We were sharing the ball, and I think that’s what worked for us.”

In the men’s competition, New Zealand secured qualification after defeating Brazil, Czechia came from behind against Italy to book its place, and Brazil eventually claimed the final available spot. Beyond the specific results, the final phase of the qualifier condensed the race for the last World Cup berths into a single day.

Warsaw, the first Polish host of the global 3×3 showcase

The next World Cup will be played in the heart of Warsaw, next to the Palace of Culture and Science, one of the most recognisable landmarks in the Polish capital. The host announcement was presented by FIBA and the Polish federation, in a decision that will bring the leading global 3×3 event to Polish soil for the first time. Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Secretary General, said: “Bringing the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Warsaw for the first time highlights Poland’s strong commitment to 3×3 basketball.”

The appointment also builds on the country’s recent experience in hosting events in this discipline. In 2023, Lublin staged the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup, an event that helped consolidate the visibility of 3×3 in the country and strengthened the international profile of its federation. Along the same lines, Polish federation president Grzegorz Bachański said: “We are glad that the highest-ranking event, the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, will come to Warsaw. The modern capital of our country will be the perfect place for this tournament.”

Poland’s selection as host also fits with the country’s recent trajectory in the discipline. Its men’s national team has competed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris, while the women’s team has maintained a presence in international 3×3 competitions. With the field now complete, the World Cup in Warsaw will bring together 20 men’s teams and 20 women’s teams in the first senior edition of the tournament ever to be organised in Poland.
