The 2025 edition of Roland-Garros is already underway with the start of the qualifying rounds and brings a series of updates that aim to enhance the experience for both players and the public. During this opening week, fans will enjoy matches featuring stars like Bianca Andreescu, Marin Cilic, and Fabio Fognini, as well as rising French talents such as Moise Kouamé and Ksenia Efremova. Spectators will also have access to training sessions of the top players on tour, especially on the iconic Philippe-Chatrier court.

Among the most notable changes are a new schedule for key matches, an increase in prize money, and the return of the fan zone, this time set up at the Place de la Concorde during the tournament’s second week. These adjustments aim to meet audience demands and make the overall Roland-Garros experience more appealing, both inside the venue and in the surrounding areas.

A more dynamic and fan-focused tournament

To avoid the empty stands that marked the second men’s semifinal in the previous edition, the tournament director, Amélie Mauresmo, announced a change in schedule: this year’s match will begin at 7:00 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m. “The big challenge is filling the lower stands from the start,” Mauresmo explained. The women’s doubles final has also been moved up by half an hour and will now start at 11:00 a.m., while the women’s doubles tournament will begin on Tuesday, May 27, at the same time as the men’s.

Another major attraction will be the fan zone located at the Place de la Concorde, offering activities, giant screens, and interactive spaces for tennis fans. With these initiatives, Roland-Garros 2025 is betting on a more inclusive and complete experience, where the action takes place not only on the courts but also in the streets of Paris.
