It has been 100 days since the World Triathlon elections with Antonio Arimany as new president, a period in which important changes and strategies have been promoted to strengthen the development of triathlon globally. Under the slogan TRIgether, the new management team has worked to improve transparency, strengthen the relationship with Olympic bodies and redefine the future of the events.

One of the most relevant milestones was the first face-to-face meeting of the Executive Committee in Madrid, where priorities were established for the new management. As part of the commitment to transparency, a new reporting format has been implemented to provide greater access to information on the decisions made at each meeting.

World Triathlon has initiated a comprehensive analysis of its event structure, with the aim of improving the experience for athletes and organizers, as well as enhancing the commercial attractiveness of the sport. The consulting firm Deloitte is in charge of the study, the results of which will be made public as soon as they are finalized.

At the institutional level, relations with the main players in the Olympic Movement have been strengthened. In Lausanne, key meetings were held with the IOC and representatives of Los Angeles 2028 to define the triathlon and paratriathlon strategy for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The IPC has also been asked to include 12 individual events and the Para Mixed Relay in the Paralympic event.

MORE VISIBILITY AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

In terms of triathlon broadcasting, strategic changes have been implemented in TV and broadcast operations to improve the exposure of athletes, events and host cities. The aim is to ensure wider and higher quality coverage.

Sports development in different regions has also been a priority. Four-year development programs have been put in place with all continental confederations, except Europe, pending a new steering committee. In addition, the selection of the next Secretary General is progressing with more than 30 candidates under evaluation.

TRIATHLON ON BIG STAGES

In addition, World Triathlon has been present at key events in Doha, where the launch of the World T100 Final was held. There, agreements were established with the Qatar Olympic Committee to boost triathlon ahead of the 2030 Asian Games and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.

Partnerships with organizations such as PTO and Supertri have also been strengthened, consolidating collaboration for events such as the E World Triathlon Championships in London. In parallel, meetings with IOC representatives in Paris and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed triathlon’s position within the Olympic ecosystem.

After these 100 days of work, World Triathlon continues to move forward to consolidate triathlon as a global and accessible sport, and the above-described demonstrates that the evolution and progress is significant and 360-degree.
