2024 Bolivarian Games: who leads the medal table?

The 2024 Bolivarian Games are underway in Ayacucho, Peru, where 1,321 athletes from ten countries are competing from November 28 to December 8. This event, which brings together athletes from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama and host Peru, also includes guests El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. For more than a week, these athletes will demonstrate their prowess in 22 sports and 33 disciplines, including some non-Olympic ones.

The Ayacucho event promises to be exciting, with the Bolivarian tradition that honors the unity of nations that share a common historical legacy. While competitors fight to hang the precious medals, fans closely follow the general table, with Colombia defending its title as leader of the medal table in Valledupar 2022.

A COMPETITIVE MEDAL TABLE

Colombia remains the leader of the medal table in the 2024 Bolivarian Games, accumulating 44 medals, of which 23 are gold. The Colombian delegation stands out in sports such as athletics and swimming, consolidating its historical dominance in this competition. Peru, as the host country, occupies second place with 16 golds, shining especially in combat and endurance disciplines, while Venezuela, with 5 gold medals, secures third place thanks to its strength in weightlifting.

The inclusion of guest countries has enriched the competition, highlighting the performance of Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, which already celebrate medals in key disciplines. This diverse and competitive stage remains a crucial platform for the development of the sport in the region, promising unexpected twists and turns in the remaining days of the competition.
