8 things you need to know about the 2024 ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship

From September 16 to 22, Copenhagen, Denmark, will host the ISA World StandUp Paddle & Paddleboard Championship 2024 (WSUPPC), bringing together over 180 athletes from 40 national teams. The event, returning to Danish soil seven years after its first ISA event, will take place in the picturesque canals and coastline of the Scandinavian capital. With new nations making their debut, such as Latvia, Lebanon, Norway, and South Korea, the excitement for the championship is high.

Among the notable competitors, local fans will be keeping an eye on Christian Andersen, who will lead the Danish team. Andersen, a gold medalist in 2019 and bronze medalist in 2022, will be aiming for his first podium finish at home. Additionally, the competition will feature the return of multiple world champions, including Cecilia Pampinella (Italy), Max Torres (Puerto Rico), and Noic Garioud (France), promising a high level of competition.

The championship will feature seven disciplines, including technical races, distance races, sprint races, and team relays, both in SUP and Paddleboard. The courses are designed to challenge athletes in varied conditions, showcasing the beauty of Copenhagen while the thrilling events unfold.
