The freediving competition calendar for 2025, organized by the International Freediving Development Association (AIDA), promises to be one of the most diverse and exciting. From championships in state-of-the-art pools to deep dives in some of the world’s most exotic environments.

From the “Static Vibes” in Uruguay to the prestigious “AIDA Warsaw Mini Comp” in Poland, the first few months of the year will be a true feast for freediving enthusiasts. Each of these meets will not only test the human limits underwater, but will also serve as a showcase for the growing global community of the sport.

POOL COMPETITION

AIDA’s January 2025 pool competitions will be held in several iconic locations, each offering unique conditions for athletes. The year will begin with the “Freedive Eilat AIDA Static Comp” event in Israel, January 1-4, followed by the “AIDA Uruguay Summer Static Vibes II” in Punta Colorada, Uruguay, on January 12. Other highlights include championships in Turkey, such as the first edition of the “AIDA Turkiye Rodosto Cup” on January 14, and the “34th AIDA Official TrueNorth Freediving Recording” in Chiba, Japan, on January 19.

These competitions not only evaluate athletes’ static ability to hold their breath, but also celebrate technique and strategy in distance and time trials. From the “AIDA Malaysia Freediving Pool Games” in Subang Jaya to the “AIDA Viking Apnea” in Sweden, the diversity of venues will ensure a broad showcase of international talent in this format.

DEEP DIVING

In the field of deep freediving, the events promise unforgettable experiences for participants and spectators alike. One of the most anticipated encounters is the “AIDA Costa Rica Depth Freediving Championship,” to be held at the Pez Vela Marina in Quepos, January 22-26. This championship will attract elite athletes looking to break records in the crystal clear waters of the Pacific.

Another highlight will be the “AIDA Panglao Depth Games Taiwan Cup Mixed Team 2025,” divided into three stages in Freedive Panglao, Philippines, January 17-19. With a focus on teamwork and depth, this tournament combines individual competition with the spirit of collaboration. These depth competitions are the essence of freediving, pushing the physical and mental abilities of the participants to the limit in spectacular settings.
