Basketball in America looks to the future. The FIBA Regional Office for the Americas confirmed the venues for the AmeriCup U18 for both women and men. Argentina will host the men’s competition, while Colombia will host the women’s championship.
The Temple of Rock, the legendary Sanitary Works facility in the city of Mar del Plata, will be the setting for the event that will bring together the best teams on the continent. Between June 3 and 9, the contest will be held that will feature Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela, coming from the South American U17 Championship; Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Belize from Central America; plus the United States and Canada of North America will be the teams that will give life to the tournament, which will also provide four places for the 2025 U19 World Cup.
WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT
For the women’s tournament, to be played between June 17 and 23, the Alejandro Galvis Ramírez Bicentennial Coliseum in Bucaramanga will be the venue. Argentina, Brazil and Colombia will represent South America; Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Dominican Republic will do so through Central America; while Canada and the United States complete the table of the event that will also qualify four teams for the 2025 U19 World Cup.
The United States is the defending champion of both tournaments. In women, yes, it is more impressive, since they have won the trophy for ten consecutive editions. Will the same happen this time? In Argentina and Colombia the champions of American basketball will be defined.
