Aryna Sabalenka, the world No. 2 Belarusian tennis player, has broken her silence following the death of her ex-boyfriend, Konstantin Koltsov Koltsov, 42, a former professional ice hockey player who had represented the Belarus national team.

In a message posted on her social media, Sabalenka expressed her deep sorrow over her loss. “Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy and, even if we were no longer together as a couple, my heart is broken,” the tennis player wrote. Additionally, she asked for respect for her and Koltsov’s family’s privacy during this very difficult time.

Despite the hard emotional blow to her, Sabalenka has decided to continue participating in the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami, where she will try to improve on her quarter-final mark last year as she overcomes this painful loss.

HER FIRST MATCH, BEFORE HER FRIEND PAULA BADOSA

The Belarusian trained this Tuesday at the event facilities. After losing last week at the Indian Wells Open in the round of 16 against American Emma Navarro, she is expected to make her debut on Thursday, facing her friend Paula Badosa.
