The World Sport for All Congress will take place from 27 to 30 May 2027 in Belgrade, Serbia. The International Sport for All Federation -FISpT- has selected the Serbian capital to bring together sports organisations, Olympic committees, federations and specialists working to broaden access to physical activity and develop participation projects beyond elite sport.
The Association Sport for All Serbia will serve as the local organising committee, with the official patronage of the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Serbia. The Congress’s visual identity and specific theme will be announced at a later date. The organisation intends to combine the exchange of projects with governance meetings involving international and European bodies connected to the Sport for All movement.
One day of conferences and another of federation governance
The preliminary programme will begin on Thursday 27 May with the arrival and registration of participants. Friday 28 May will contain the Congress’s main public programme, including the opening ceremony, lectures, panel discussions and presentations. The final content, speakers and areas of debate have not yet been announced.
Saturday 29 May will be reserved for the FISpT General Assembly and Board meeting. The General Assembly and Board meeting of the European Sport for All Union -UESpT- will be held in parallel. Members and partner organisations will also be able to use dedicated spaces to present their disciplines, programmes and projects, adding an exhibition area to the Congress’s institutional and content programme. Delegations are scheduled to depart on Sunday 30 May.
From community projects to traditional sports
The Congress will continue the work developed at the meeting held in January 2026 in Civitanova Marche, Italy. That programme examined flying disc as a participation tool, the introduction of rink bandy, the role of traditional sports and games in intergenerational activities, and the use of multisport formats in communities and challenging environments. It also addressed the relationship between music, movement and physical activity.
These subjects reflect the scope of FISpT, which was founded in Strasbourg in 1982 and received full recognition from the International Olympic Committee -IOC- in 1995. Its mission is to encourage accessible sport regardless of age, ability or performance level and to facilitate cooperation between national and international organisations. The 2026 assembly and congress brought together 117 participants, including 62 who joined online, from 45 countries across four continents. The organisation also approved new statutes intended to strengthen governance, transparency and institutional accountability.
Coinciding with Expo 2027 Belgrade
The dates have been selected so that the Congress coincides with Expo 2027 Belgrade, the Specialised Expo taking place from 15 May to 15 August. Under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”, the event expects to welcome more than four million visitors over 93 days and will use physical activity, creativity and play as instruments for participation, innovation and social connection.
The Expo programme will include “Music of all for all”, “Sport of all for all” and “Limitless Play”. The sports strand will focus on participation and movement regardless of a person’s background or ability, while the third programme will feature games, challenges and activities exploring human potential. The World Sport for All Congress will take place during the opening weeks of the Expo and use that timing to connect its discussions and projects with an international programme aimed at the wider public.
