Chile wants to host a great sporting event again. After the success in the last Pan American and Parapan American Games Santiago 2023, the South American country continues its search to host the largest international competitions possible.
Now, Chile is applying to be the first Latin American venue for the Special Olympics, the event that brings together more than 8,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from more than 170 countries.
“We were in Chile on the second evaluation visit of the international technical committee to evaluate the venues, infrastructure and the application that the Chilean government has presented to host the 2027 World Games,” commented Claudia Echeverri, President for Latam of Special Olympics. to ‘Canal CDO’ of Chile, within the framework of the Odesur forum that took place in Rio de Janeiro.

“We confirm the high commitment of the Chilean government, Special Olympics Chile and also the Chilean Olympic Committee, which has made its Committee structure available to work on this great sporting event,” the board added.
The final resolution will be known the last week of April. At the moment, everything indicates that Chile will host the 2027 Special Olympics, becoming the first Latin American venue within the 16 editions in which this competition has been held since its inception in 1968.
