The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) has announced that the 2025 Climbing World Cup will mark a historic milestone for the sport, as it will be held for the first time in a South American country. From May 16 to 18, Curitiba, Brazil, will host this event at the Olympic Climbing Training Center, located in the Parque Olímpico do Cajuru.

IFSC President Marco Scolaris highlighted the significance of including South America in the World Cup calendar. “A stop in South America represents a milestone in our development, reflecting the growth of the community across all continents,” he stated. After the success of climbing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the goal is to make the circuit increasingly global, strengthening the presence of this sport in new regions.

Curitiba, with a population of 1.7 million, is the largest city in southern Brazil. The Olympic Climbing Training Center has been under development since 2023 and has already hosted national and continental competitions. By the end of 2024, the center is expected to be fully operational with key events like the National Championships in all disciplines and the South American Cup.

Thiago Campacci, President of the Brazilian Climbing Federation, expressed his excitement for the event: “We are thrilled to bring a Boulder World Cup to Brazil. This is the result of 10 years of hard work in promoting and developing climbing in our country. It is a milestone for both Brazil and South America, allowing several countries to experience their first taste of the circuit.”

This event not only places Brazil on the global climbing map but also promises to attract the best climbers in the world, further raising the sport’s profile in the region.
