Italian official Enrico Della Casa has been re-elected as President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme (UEC) for a new term running from 2025 to 2029. His re-election was confirmed during the UEC Congress held this weekend in Bratislava, Slovakia, attended by delegates from 49 out of the 51 member federations. Della Casa, who joined the UEC in 2013 after working with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), has led the organization since 2021 and has worked towards strengthening cycling in Europe.

During his speech following the re-election, Della Casa highlighted the achievements of recent years, made possible through collaboration with National Federations and strategic partners: “We have strengthened our position on the international sports stage by investing in youth cycling development, gender equality, and the consolidation of European competitions,” he stated. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the UCI, whose president, David Lappartient, attended the Congress and praised the joint efforts made to advance cycling.

LEADERSHIP AND FUTURE PROJECTS

The Congress not only confirmed Della Casa in his role but also elected new members to the Executive Committee. Katarina Jakubová (Slovakia), Raivo Rand (Estonia), and Georgios Georgiou (Cyprus) were appointed as Vice Presidents, while Alasdair MacLennan (Great Britain) assumed the role of Secretary General. Additionally, European candidates were selected for the UCI Management Committee, along with fifteen delegates who will participate in the UCI Congress scheduled for September 25 during the UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.

With his re-election and a renewed team, Della Casa is committed to driving European cycling toward new goals and strengthening its presence on the international stage. The UEC thus positions itself as a key reference point for the development of cycling in Europe and beyond.
